Just
got back from a whole day of interviews. Got to go back tomorrow
morning for more. I finished up the Windows
2000 Professional - Web/FTP/SMTP step-by-step guide so check it out.

There
seemed to be a problem with the loading of the menu bar so I fixed that.
It should load just fine now. Earlier today GraniteCanyon.com was
down for a while leaving many sites stranded. They said they fixed
the problem, so everything should be fine. This site uses ZoneEdit.com
and since I've switch over from GC, things have been great so far.

I've
been doing some benchmarking around here and I found out something very
interesting that many of you might like to know. I've been comparing
the speed of the 10/100 switch in the Linksys Cable/DSL Router with an
Allied Telesyn LANedge 10/100 8-port switch and found the speeds to be
identical. I could sustain a 79Mbps transfer speed on both units.
This means that the switch inside the Linksys Cable/DSL Router is a very
comparable to other standalone switches. Nice. Much more benchmarking
to come!

The
Port
Forwarding on the Linksys Cable/DSL Router step-by-step is now up.
It took longer than I thought. Right now I'm working on a step-by-step
of setting up IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000 Professional with the Web, FTP, and
Email services. That is taking forever! Take care and happy
President's Day (officially "George Washington's Birthday" but now popularly
known as President's Day in case you were wondering.)

Today
the site was down for a few hours due to strange DSL problems. When
I came home, everything was running fine so I guess there should be no
further problems. I just got back from the USC vs Arizona St. men's
basketball game and USC won 80-68. I also did will on my exam this
morning so I'm pretty pumped. I'm working on a step-by-step article
about how to forward ports on a Linksys router and it should be up pretty
soon. I have to go do some homework now, so I'll catch ya later.

Dave
of Dave's Hardware
was cool enough to recommend our website to his readers today. Thanks
Dave! Happy V-day to all you guys and gals out there! I hope
you had a lovely night and spent some quality time together with your loved
one. For those of you without a special somebody, it's all good too.
Tomorrow I got an exam at 7:20 am so I am off to bed. It's an exam
to gauge my physical examination skills with patients. And no, I
don't have to ask anybody to cough. :) Good night!

I
updated the Server Software page with
information on how to access your website from any web browser from the
server itself, a LAN network computer, or from the Internet (WAN).
This is especially important information when you are still in the setting-up/troubleshooting
stage.

I
always thought it was cool to see the actual hardware that a website was
run on so I added a small tour with pictures of DSL/Cable Webserver's machinery
in the Site Info page.

It's
now 4:00 am and I have to go play in a basketball game in 4 hours. Aaaarrrgh!
Well, I stayed up late working on the DNS Section.
I've added a part about running a domain name on a dynamic IP address for
you who don't have static IP's. I also added a long list of dynamic
DNS services that will allow you to use a subdomain of their website to
connect to your dynamic IP address. Check it out and let me know
if I messed anything up. The grammar may be weird, but it's 4:00
am. What do you expect? Got to get my sleep to go ball in a
few hours.

Thanks
to I Am Not A Geek.com
for putting up a link to us. I'm currently compiling a list of second
level domain name provider which turns out to be very extensive.
It will be up in the next few days.

Spotlight.net was kind enough to put a link to our site in their news
section this morning. Check them out for the latest computer related
news and articles! In the meantime, I've been doing research on a
good solution for those of you on DSL or cable and have a dynamic IP address
and want to run a webserver. I have most of the puzzle solved, I
just need to look around a bit more and then I'll write the whole thing
up for you guys! Tonight I have to figure out how to read EKG's for
class tomorrow. Sheesh. (:\)

I
want to thank GotApex.com
for giving us some much needed publicity. If you haven't been to
their site before, go check them out, especially their Deals
section. They have some of the best deals available on the web!
Today, I added a Register
link on this front page for people who want to be emailed every few weeks
about what's going on with this site. It's the same registration
to our online forums, so you don't have to register twice. The email
updates won't be these daily blurbs (how annoying would that be?), but
about every week or so I will email you about major new articles and guides.
If you are already registered and would not like to receive these emails,
please edit
your profile accordingly.

There's
now a blurb about KVM's in the Miscellaneous section.
Don't know what KVM is? Go find out how a KVM can save you time and
money!

I
added a few more tools in the Tests/Tools.
If you have any more good tools, send them my way!
