Standard Network with Hub/Switch |
Updated: June 10, 2001
Notes:
-
This is a very typical setup
for a Ethernet network for home or business.
-
The IP numbers are only if you
install the TCP/IP protocol, which is necessary for Internet access and
some games. Since this network is not connected to the Internet,
TCP/IP is optional.
-
If you want to add Internet
access, you can add a router and turn this network into Multiport
Router or Single Port Router
network. Or you could run a NAT program on the server and create
a NAT network.
-
If you run out of ports on the
hub/switch, your can "cascade" more hubs/switches with Cascading
Hubs/Switches
