Two Computer Crossover Cable Network |
Updated: June 10, 2001
Notes:
-
This network does not include
a hub or switch
-
The two computer are connected
together using a "crossover cable" which is NOT the same thing as a regular
"straight through" cable.
-
This network has limited expandability
since you cannot add another computer unless you also add a hub.
If you add a hub/switch and third computer, it will end up as a Standard
Network with a Hub/Switch.
-
The IP numbers are only if you
install the TCP/IP protocol, which is necessary for Internet access and
some games. Since this network is not connected to the Internet,
TCP/IP is optional.
-
If you want this network setup
to have Internet access, then the network can easily become Crossover
Cable Network with NAT
